From the heart of Denver, the Ken Walker Sextet is renowned for their unparalleled artistry and soulful performances. For over two decades, this iconic group has mesmerized audiences with impeccable musicality and innovative interpretations, seamlessly blending classic jazz standards with contemporary compositions.

For this performance at the Muse, the sextet brings the music of tenor saxophone great Eddie Harris into focus. An international jazz celebrity from the 1960s through the ‘90s, Harris composed iconic tunes including “Listen Here” and “Freedom Jazz Dance” as well as collaborating with Les McCann on the iconic 1969 Swiss Movement album. Harris was also well known for his sonic experiments, including a wind synthesizer that enabled saxophonists to play in five-part harmony as in the reed section of a big band.

Led by virtuoso bassist Ken Walker, the group’s repertoire is a rich tapestry of timeless tunes, infused with a vibrant energy that is uniquely their own. Each member of the ensemble is a master of their craft, contributing their unique talents to create a groovy and swinging experience that resonates with both jazz enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
